What You'll Learn
Whether you’re completely new to recovery or looking to master advanced techniques, you’ll learn:
- Proper tire pressure strategies and field repair
- Safe, effective use of traction boards and winches
- Kinetic recovery theory and hands-on application
- Smart load-outs based on your rig and terrain
- Recovery point identification, gear selection, and advanced rigging
All training can be customized to your rig, experience level, and goals—whether you're preparing for a solo adventure, family trip, or a lead role in a group expedition.

Training Courses
Trailhead (3-Hour Intro Course)
A beginner-friendly introduction to off-roading that covers essential safety, trail etiquette, and basic vehicle control. Ideal for drivers who want to explore forest roads with confidence.
Trailblazer (6-Hour Hands-On Course)
A full-day training that blends classroom instruction with real-world trail driving. Learn recovery fundamentals, communication techniques, and terrain strategy while building confidence behind the wheel.
Summit (2-Day Intermediate Expedition)
An immersive overnight experience for those ready to push their skills further. This course focuses on advanced recovery methods, navigation, and leadership on the trail.

Meet Your Instructor
Your lead instructor, Ben Powell, is based in Sammamish. He brings over 30 years of real-world off-roading experience and 15 years of recovery instruction to every course.
Ben has trained King County Search & Rescue, the King County Sheriff’s Office, and numerous local clubs, and he’s the architect behind the renowned off-road course at DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, WA.
